Minimise the need for cables when installing IP cameras, even when they are not PoE-compatible as standard. Using the Power over Ethernet (PoE) splitter, an Ethernet cable carrying power and data is split into two separate connections. You now have an individual power connection again on cameras without a PoE interface, plus an Ethernet connection which does not carry current. This eliminates the need for a long, separate power line, even when using cameras that are not PoE-compatible. Additionally, you are no longer reliant on a local power supply (socket) when selecting the camera location.
